The exhibition building was built between 1838 and 1848 by Georg Friedrich Ziebland. Since 1967 it houses the antique collections of the Wittelsbach dukes and kings. The museum holds masterpieces of Greek vases dating from 1400 — 300 BC, including world-famous exhibits. Etruscan gold jewellery provides another highlight. Superb examples of other types of antique art can also be found: clay figurines, bronze figurines and implements as well as examples of glass art.
